Overview - From April to October Oceanic Discoverer runs 10-night cruises between Darwin and Broome along the Kimberley region of north-west Australia visit the rivers, bays and islands - to snorkel, fish, and photograph the dramatic scenery. Broome is remembered as the one-time pearling capital of the world. For the other months she crosses the top of Australia to explore waters around Papua-New Guinea and Melanesia, and Pacific islands south to New Zealand. This is a luxury expedition vessel hosting just 72 guests.

Accommodation - Onboard accommodation comprises 36 spacious modern staterooms ranging from 14 to 18.5 m2 floor area. Select from Bridge, Promenade or Main Deck staterooms offering a choice of twin through to junior king-size doubles. The staterooms' decor is modern and bright.

All staterooms have an ocean view, en-suite facilities, settee, large wardrobe, desk, luggage storage, individual air-conditioning control, and are serviced daily.

Food & Dining - Breakfast and lunch are served in the Dining Room located on the Main Deck and are buffet-style while dinner is table d'hôte. A fully stocked cocktail bar combines with two modern air-conditioned lounges for pre-dinner drinks or late-night conversation about he day's activities. Coffee and tea is available 24 hours.

"It was a five star hotel experience albeit in bare feet with food and service above and beyond expectations" said one past guest. Another wrote "We were particularly appreciative of the way in which our special dietary requirements were provided for and we thought the cuisine and service was of the highest standard."

Entertainment & Activities - This is an explorer vessel - so the entertainment is mainly in the activities on shore. Activities include exploring shores from the Xplorer aluminium excursion vessel and the two inflatable Zodiacs, snorkelling and scuba diving supervised by qualified instructors, and exploration of tropical rain forest islands. Travel up coastal rivers and gorges, past waterfalls, salt-water crocodiles and bird life.

On board for your reading is a comprehensive reference library that features videos and books on the reef, islands and outback. Conversations build friendships with fellow passengers, which is very much part of the experience. Expedition Leaders and guest lecturers inform about the regions and cultures of the regions visited. After-dinner slide shows may finish an evening. Relax on the sun deck and in the spa pool. "You will be ensured of a unique adventure on both an emotional and intellectual level," is the aim of the cruise company.
