Overview - True North runs 6- to 13-night explorations of the Kimberley region of North-West Australia, out of Broome, Wyndham and the Hunter River. Five-night dedicated coral snorkel cruises depart from Broome. A twelve-night cruise to Indonesian New Guinea departs from Darwin - and this must be one of the truly rare explorer voyages, to places not visited by any other craft. Connecting flights from Cairns/Brisbane link with 7-night cruises of Melanesia, to a magnificent tropical world and its undersea remnants of WWII. Dress is smart casual and 'adventure wear'.

Accommodation - There are three cabin classes. All cabins are spacious, and feature ensuites, in-house movies, satellite telephones, and power (110v and 240v). Lower deck Ocean Class cabins (12 sq.m.) have two single beds and two portholes. The main deck River Class cabins (15 sq.m.) have a king size double bed (convertible to singles), increased shower size, writing desk, and ocean views through two large panoramic windows. On the upper deck Explorer Class cabins (15 sq.m.) also feature a king size double bed (convertible to singles), three large panoramic windows, writing desk, enhanced luxury fit out, and complimentary mini-bar.

Cabins are smart, bright, and serve as a refuge from the day's activities and time spent comparing notes with fellow-travellers. Single guests can share accommodation with another traveller of the same gender, or pay an 80% single supplement for exclusive use of the stateroom.

Food & Dining - All meals are 'the finest in dining', 6-star as rated by past travellers. Signature meals include barramundi, black-lip oysters, Kimberley rib and lamb racks, with fresh vegetables and salads. Passengers are invited to advise of any dietary requirement and chefs are always pleased to prepare meals of preference. Menus may include the day's catch - mangrove jack, coral trout, finger-mark bream, monster golden snapper & the revered barramundi are caught in tropical waters; in 'cooler climes' West Australian jewfish, pink snapper, emperors and whiting.

The dining room spans the width of the main deck, with splendid ocean views from large panoramic windows. Full table settings and personalised service match hotel-style service. Non-alcoholic refreshments are provided throughout the day. The True North operates a licensed bar, and during the day café style coffees are additional.

Entertainment & Activities - The entertainment is the journey. It begins with the ship's naturalist presenting entertaining information about daily excursions. This is an expedition vessel, so expect to learn how to snorkel safely with complimentary equipment, clamber over rocks, beach walk, with pauses for sumptuous morning teas. With six expedition boats groups guests - first-timers or experienced hands - can plan their own style of fishing with the tackle provided, and either eat the catch or release the fish. Divers must be fully licensed and bring their complete gear.

On board viewing points include the sun deck, forward observation lounge, ship's lounge and alfresco bar. Guests create their own entertainment as they discuss the day's activities and make new friendships with crew and fellow-adventurers. For solitude, retire to the Internet café, or one's cabin to write or watch a movie.
