Qantas carried it's first passenger in 1921 across outback Queensland.
Created out of the need to avoid driving through such a rugged landscape, some enterprising locals established (and got off the ground!) the Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services Pty Ltd - Qantas.
The Qantas museum opened in Longreach in 1996 and recently had a retired Boeing 747 added to it's collection of planes flown by the airline.
Today Qantas is recognised as one of the safest airlines in the world and as the national carrier of Australia. Qantas is proud to be known as The Spirit of Australia - a land of natural treasures and cultural diversity. Australia offers a wealth of travel experiences, from the vastness and drama of the outback, to the spectacle of the Great Barrier Reef and its islands, cosmopolitan city life and arguably some of the best beaches in the world.
The popularity of Australia with international visitors is growing year by year. It is a land of contrasts, yet it is safe and friendly, where overseas visitors are welcome.
