The Resort
Located in the Daintree Rainforest in Tropical North Queensland, here is the Daintree's ultimate resort. Featured as "one of the top 4 spa retreats in the world" by Shape Magazine UK (Feb 2003), Silky Oaks Lodge is an oasis of elegance and ease amidst the oldest living rainforest on earth.

Nestled on the edge of the Mossman Gorge where this rare wilderness can be enjoyed in elegance and ease, it gives out the feeling of having been built in an existing rainforest, with every chalet under delicious assault from verdant aromas and the gentle cacophony of bird and frog calls.

Accommodation - see rooms
Silky Oaks Lodge has 50 rooms, it is an adult retreat and children under 10 years are not catered for. Guests are accommodated in beautiful timber Treehouses. Set into the rainforest and surrounded by lush gardens, each has been carefully designed to offer privacy and maximum comfort.

Treehouses have an understated tropical style with natural tones and timbers used to create a relaxed, soothing living space. Floor to ceiling glass doors open onto a wide verandah where a hammock is perfectly positioned to make the most of picturesque views.

Activities
Visitors can drift down the Daintree in small boats or pad along rainforest paths to plunge into cool, clear water holes. This stretch of the Mossman River is too cold for crocodiles but watch out for the platypus that lives in the lagoon under the Silky Oaks veranda restaurant. With Port Douglas only 20 minutes away, the morning drop off and afternoon pick ups provide opportunities to explore the many boutiques, restaurants and shops of this coastal town.

The resort provides a range of leisure facilities with:  • Bicycles  • Canoeing & snorkelling river trips  • Daily Port Douglas shuttle  • Evening slide presentations  • Guided rainforest walks  • Tennis day/night

Dining
The tariff includes tropical buffet breakfast and 4 course dinner with a nightly changing menu. The Treehouse is an open sided restaurant, enveloped by the rainforest canopy offering sensational rainforest and river views - one of Northern Queensland's premier dining experiences.

The innovative menu features the freshest local produce and fine Australian wines. It has several inviting lounge areas and bars positioned above the Mossman River, providing spectacular views of the Daintree Rainforest for afternoon teas and evening cocktails. Gourmet picnic hampers are available for day excursions.

Getting There
Located 83km north of Cairns Airport, approximately 75 mins by road or 20 mins by helicopter to a nearby helipad. Silky Oaks Lodge is on the northern bank of the Mossman River Gorge, 7km from Mossman and 27km to Port Douglas. A range of transfer options are available to assist you including coach, hire car, private limousine and self-drive. The scenic drive on the sealed main highway takes you from Cairns via Port Douglas and no 4WD or ferry crossing is needed except in extreme monsoon weather. A resort coach service to and from Port Douglas operates daily for guests.

Spa
Silky Oaks Lodge Healing Waters Spa is inspired by the ancient and sacred river and rainforest. Recent additions link the existing spa to a new wing offering an indoor/outdoor relaxation area to allow guests to enjoy the rainforest environment before, during and after treatments. The new wing houses a reception area and additional treatment rooms include two single massage rooms and a vichy room. A dramatic signature treatment room opens out to a deck that offers glorious rainforest and river views.

Golf
Mirage Country Club Port Douglas is just 20 mins away and is a golfer's paradise. Rated as one of the world's best resort courses, the 18 hole international standard championship golf course was designed by renowned golf architect Peter Thomson, and contains the usual combination of 6 par 3, 6 par 4 and 6 par 5 holes all within two quite different 9's with the bordering Coral Sea and the panoramic mountain backdrop providing the only distractions to a memorable round. The golf course also has a Pro Shop, aquatic driving range, practice putting green and bunkers, and professional golf instructors.

Children
The lodge is an adult retreat and children under 10 years are not catered for.

General
Nestled on the edge of the Mossman Gorge in the Daintree Rainforest, Silky Oaks Lodge is the Daintree's ultimate resort where this rare wilderness can be enjoyed in elegance and ease. From the moment you arrive at Silky Oaks, you feel the aura of the Daintree. Vast and pristine, it is the oldest living rainforest on Earth.

The Lodge itself overlooks a lagoon so idyllic it has no equal for natural beauty, supreme comfort and ease of access. There's also the added comfort of knowing you've chosen the perfect base to explore the Tropical North Queensland region.

Ride the scenic railway through the Barron Gorge, cruise along the Daintree River, visit the Great Barrier Reef or Cape Tribulation. It's all within easy reach, but don't be surprised if it becomes more tempting to leave the tourist spots to the tourists. Once you settle in at the Lodge, you simply won't want to leave.

There is no effort required to discover the magic of the rainforest as it's all around you. Yet from the comfort of the Lodge there's no sense of 'roughing it'. In fact, the only challenge you're likely to encounter is deciding what to choose from the menu.

And whether you're dining in the restaurant, or relaxing in the lounge, at Silky Oaks there's a special brand of service. Attentive, yet unobtrusive. Silky Oaks Lodge is the essence of the Daintree.
