The GlobeNet Travel Group
The Company commenced operations in 1991 as a Brisbane-based American Express agency, expanding to become one of the largest retail travel agencies in the country today. The founder Tosh Russell is the financial controller of the group today.
GlobeNet Travel is proudly independent and privately owned, with headquarters in Brisbane's prime CBD Waterfront area, Queensland, Australia and staff also located in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.
Today it is a
Deloitte Technology Fast 50 company, providing comprehensive fee-free travel services world-wide via several extensive websites backed up with full consultant services and 24x7 support for clients during their travel.

Travel Industry Firsts
In November 2002, our
TravelDownunder website was selected by the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse -
ATDW - as the first privately operated website to showcase Australia's travel products. The ATDW was developed over 3 years by Australia's tourism bodies to provide a central, comprehensive collection of our country's travel products - now over 15,000 and growing.
In mid-2005 we incorporated into our travel websites the first Australian application of "birds-eye view" Google Earth, a global first with GE Videos for cruises & island resorts, followed in May 2006 with the first use of Google Maps allowing pinpoint satellite and street views of mainland destinations. Further major developments are in progress, to be released in late 2006.
