- RMS Queen Mary 2 underwent a major make-over in November 2011, though only 8 years old. She makes regular crossings of the Atlantic with the latest high-tech facilities and conveniences. Apart from her annual World Cruise (January to March; not crossing the Pacific Ocean) she operates between Southampton and New York. She makes side voyages in Europe to Iberia and the Canary Islands, and to Norway and the North Atlantic. In North America she makes side trips to the Caribbean and New England. Note the 28-night 6 July 2012 cruise ex New York to north of the Arctic Circle, and return; also the 30-night 28 October 2012 cruise return out of New York to Rome and Athens.
- Standard staterooms Britannia Inside are like deluxe guestrooms on other vessels, and include 24-hour room service, interactive TV, refrigerator, bathrobe and slippers, nightly turndown service, and daily shipboard newspaper. Britannia Oceanview are slightly larger (194 sq.ft.) with oceanview window. Britannia Club Balcony (248 sq.ft.) adds fine linen, Pillow Concierge Menu, and dining at the single-seating Britannia Club restaurant.
Princess Grill Suites (381 sq.ft.) offer priority embarkation, a range of niceties by way of welcome, personalised stationary, access to private lounges and Grills concierge service, dining at a reserved table in the single-seating Princess Grill restaurant, and a fine mix of other personal services. Queens Grill accommodation is among the most lavish on board any ship (with five types of suite ranging from 506 to 2249 sq.ft.). Enjoy butler service, single-seating dining in the Queens Grill or your Ensuite, and access to Grills Concierge Lounge, Queens Grill Lounge and private Queens Grill sun Deck.
- The restaurant assigned equates with your cabin: Grill Class or Britannia Class. There are 14 bars, and 7 galleys serving 10 dining rooms and eateries. In Britannia Restaurant, which seats 1,347, enter by a grand sweeping staircase. Breakfast and lunch are open-seating, while dinner is in two seatings, with crisp linen and fine china. Dining is lavish.
The Queens Grill and Princess Grill offer an impressive á la carte menu in addition to the regular menu (and Queens Grill guests can order specials at any time). The alternative (for-extra) Todd English Restaurant guided by a top Boston chef serves Mediterranean cuisine. The informal King's Court offers self-serve English and Indian foods for breakfast and lunch, then becomes four specialty venues for dinner. Get fast food at the outdoors Boardwalk, and English pub food at the Golden Lion Pub. Of course for privacy one can always dine alone in one's suite or cabin.
- Evening entertainment centres on the Royal Court Theatre (seating 1,094) with lavish West End-style productions, as well as cabaret, comedy, acrobats and jugglers. Live music in most of the bars comes from high-class bands, duos and soloists. Waltz the evening away (after your ballroom lessons) in the grandest dance floor at sea, the Queens Room; or perhaps your style is better suited to the Caribbean Band in the G32 nightclub.
The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art leads acting workshops. Perhaps your voyage may offer astronomy from the Royal Astronomical Society, or jazz performances from The Juilliard School. Link up with the Book Club or get your thrills in the Empire Casino. The ship's enrichment program features specialist lecturers such as authors, artists, historians, scientists and famous individuals. For the energetic there are fitness classes, sports courts, traditional deck sports, and a golf simulator. Children will spend their days in The Play Zone. Some of your most memorable times may be those spent on deck, spent reading, talking with other guests, or simply watching the sea pass by.
